Termites Found in Your Home? Here’s What to Do Next

Discovering termites in your home can be stressful — but acting quickly and calmly is key. At Blast Pest Management, we specialise in identifying, treating, and protecting homes across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and surrounding suburbs from termite infestations. Our team provides a fast, professional response to minimise damage and restore peace of mind.

Step 1: Don’t Disturb the Termites

It’s tempting to spray or remove visible termites, but this can actually make things worse. Termites will retreat deeper into hidden areas, making them harder to locate and treat effectively. Leave the affected area untouched and contact our team immediately.

Step 2: Termite Investigation

We conduct a targeted termite investigation to confirm the presence, extent, and potential source of termite activity within your structure. Our goal is to identify exactly what’s happening and provide a clear treatment plan if live activity or damage is found.

During the investigation, our licensed technicians will assess:

  • Entry points – how and where termites are gaining access
  • Termite species – identifying the type of termite helps determine the best treatment method
  • Nest location – finding the source of the colony to ensure complete elimination
  • Damage to areas – inspecting affected timbers, walls, and surrounding structures for visible or hidden damage

Once the investigation is complete, we’ll present you with a tailored treatment proposal to effectively eliminate the problem and prevent future infestations.

Step 3: Implement a Targeted Treatment Plan

Once we understand the situation, we’ll design a tailored treatment plan to eliminate the active termites and protect your home. Options may include:

  • Termite Baiting Systems – safe, effective colony elimination
  • Chemical Barrier Treatments – long-term soil protection around your home
  • Direct Treatments – targeted applications to infested timbers

All treatments comply with Australian Standards (AS 3660) and are applied by licensed and fully insured professionals.

Step 4: Protect Your Home Long-Term

After eradication, ongoing monitoring is crucial. We provide maintenance programs and annual inspections to ensure your property stays termite-free year-round. Prevention is always more cost-effective than repair.

Why Choose Blast Pest Management?

  • Rapid response to termite emergencies
  • Expert technicians with years of experience
  • Compliant and environmentally responsible treatments
  • Transparent reports and honest advice
  • Local, family-owned business trusted across Brisbane & the Gold Coast

TERMITE PROTECTION

Termite Protection for Established Homes

Protecting your home from termites is one of the most important investments you can make. At Blast Pest Management, we only use premium products and proven methods to deliver long-lasting protection and complete peace of mind.

For existing homes, we offer two highly effective termite management systems:

Option 1: Termite Baiting System – Trelona® ATBS

The Trelona® Advanced Termite Baiting System provides continuous, low-impact protection that actively eliminates termite colonies around your home. It’s a trusted and environmentally friendly option for long-term termite management.

How It Works

  • Discreet bait stations are installed around the perimeter of your home, typically every 3 metres.
  • Each station contains an advanced bait matrix that termites find irresistible.
  • Termites feed on the bait and share it throughout the colony, leading to complete elimination.
  • Our technicians monitor and maintain the system regularly to ensure year-round protection.

Why We Use Trelona®

Trelona® is one of the most advanced baiting systems available globally, offering:

  • Fast colony elimination with minimal environmental impact
  • Continuous protection through routine monitoring
  • Non-invasive installation
  • Ideal for properties where chemical barriers aren’t suitable

Option 2: Chemical Soil Treatment – Termidor® SC and Termidor® HE

The Termidor® range is the gold standard in chemical termite protection. It forms a treated zone in the soil around your home that termites cannot detect, ensuring they unknowingly come into contact with it and transfer the product throughout the colony.

Installation Process

  • Small holes are drilled around the home’s external perimeter – through paths, patios, or slab edges as needed.
  • Termidor® is carefully injected into the soil at precise intervals to form a continuous protective zone.
  • All drill holes are sealed neatly once treatment is complete, leaving minimal visual impact.

Why We Use Termidor®

We use only Termidor SC and Termidor HE, Australia’s most proven and trusted termite control products, because:

  • They provide long-term protection (up to 8 years)
  • They’re non-repellent, so termites can’t detect or avoid them
  • Termidor HE offers enhanced soil coverage and even distribution
  • Manufactured by BASF, the global leader in pest management innovation

At Blast Pest Management, we never compromise on quality — using the best products ensures no issues arise down the track and your home stays protected for years to come.

Cost of Termite Protection

The cost of termite protection depends on the perimeter size of your home, as this determines how much product or how many bait stations are required.

For example:

  • A two-storey, 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom home typically has a smaller footprint and shorter perimeter.
  • A single-storey home with the same number of rooms generally has a larger footprint, requiring more material and installation time.

On average, termite protection for Queensland homes ranges from $2,500 – $3,500+, depending on home size, construction type, and chosen system.

Termite Inspections for Established Homes

Our licensed technicians conduct thorough termite inspections designed to detect any signs of termite activity, damage, or conditions that may attract termites to your property.

What’s Included in a Termite Inspection:

  • Full internal and external inspection of your home and surrounding structures
  • Roof void and subfloor assessment (where accessible)
  • Checking fences, decks, garden beds, retaining walls, and outbuildings
  • Moisture testing to detect concealed activity (Thermal Imaging if Required)
  • Identification of any visible damage or risk factors such as leaks or timber contact with soil

After the inspection, you’ll receive a comprehensive digital report detailing:

  • Any signs of live termite activity or damage
  • Risk areas and conducive conditions
  • Treatment and prevention recommendations
  • Photos and clear notes from our technician

If termite activity is found, we’ll conduct a complete review and tailored treatment plan to address the issue immediately and protect your property long-term.

How Often Should You Have a Termite Inspection?

We recommend a minimum of one termite inspection every 12 months, in line with Australian Standard AS 3660.2.

High-risk areas (such as homes near bushland, water sources, or with past termite history) may require more frequent inspections. Regular inspections not only help detect termites early before major damage occurs — they’re also a key part of maintaining warranty compliance for many properties.

Pre-Purchase Termite Inspections

Buying a home? Don’t risk moving in with hidden termite damage.

Our Pre-Purchase Termite Inspections provide a clear, independent assessment of a property’s condition before you buy. Using advanced detection tools and our expert knowledge, we’ll identify any evidence of termites or past activity that may not be visible to the untrained eye.

Your Pre-Purchase Termite Report Includes:

  • Results of a full termite inspection of all accessible areas
  • Any signs of current or previous termite activity or damage
  • Conditions that could lead to future infestations
  • Professional recommendations for treatment or prevention
  • A digital report suitable for conveyancers, real estate agents, or builders

PRE-CONSTRUCTION & RENOVATION

Pre-Construction & Renovation Termite Protection

Building a new home or renovating an existing one? Proper termite protection during construction is not just smart — it’s required under Queensland Building and Construction regulations.

At Blast Pest Management, we provide fully compliant pre-construction termite protection systems for new builds, extensions, and renovations across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and surrounding areas.

What Is Pre-Construction Termite Protection?

Pre-construction termite protection is a specialised system installed during the building phase to prevent concealed termite entry into the structure. These treatments form part of the building’s long-term termite management system, designed in accordance with AS 3660.1:2014 – Termite Management, New Building Work and usually require Form 43 to ne issued.

Whether it’s a new home, an extension, or a renovation, we work closely with builders, homeowners, and project managers to ensure the right system is installed for your site and soil conditions.

Our Pre-Construction Termite Protection Systems

1. Physical Barriers

Installed beneath or around the slab, physical barriers prevent termites from gaining concealed access into the structure. Common systems include:

  • Termite collars around plumbing & electrical penetrations
  • Stainless steel mesh or chemically impregnated membranes beneath the frame perimeter walls

2. Chemical Soil Treatments - Reticulation System

A reticulation system is one of the most effective and efficient ways to protect your property against termites — especially during new construction, extensions, or renovations.

  • Installed during pre-construction or renovation stages
  • Laid before concrete is poured or during perimeter preparation
  • Pipes positioned around footings, slab edges, and key entry points
  • Designed to provide even chemical distribution and long-term protection

3. Combination Systems

Many sites require a combination of physical and chemical systems to ensure complete protection, especially for complex builds or multi-slab designs.

Renovations and Extensions

If you’re adding an extension, patio, bathroom renovation or additional room to an existing home, you may also require a Form 43 termite protection certificate as part of your building approval.

We provide:

  • Pre-slab chemical soil treatments or physical barrier installations
  • Integration with existing termite protection systems
  • Re-certification and updating of termite management plans for the entire property

Our team works efficiently with builders and renovators to ensure all protection measures are in place before concrete is poured or walls are enclosed.
